This day it was time to meet with my family and grab the coffee machine, so we had to get back to civilization. Starting at Maljkovo, in the middle of nowhere, to Sibenik were my friend got her desperately needed a shower. I have to add something here I guess, not regarding smell or hygiene, but for moral and comfort. Then off to the Krka National parks aka The Westeros Riverlands from where we started south again to that beautiful parking spot near Pisak, so the next day was quite manageable regarding distance.
Road to Sibenik
We packed our stuff into the van, so it was safe to travel. And there was the first lie already. In fact, I think we did not manage a single trip without something getting its wings and attempting to take a short but violent flight. Sometimes because of sheer stupidity and laziness, at times because the roads made a real rollercoaster out of the van even when driving in the first gear with the needle of the speedometer still sitting on its resting place.
Pretty uneventful regarding traffic again we made our way over some high ground towards the coast again.
Just the occasional horse or cow walking along/on the road, not much else. Soon, the villages became larger, the roads better and we even went through Grad Drins – the Town of Smoked Ham.
Grad Drins

The Highground we came from – you can spot the road on the left side of the background mountains.
Sibenik
We had not an awful lot to do here, pretty uneventful so to say. We hit a Camping ground so my friend could get her hot shower, and I headed off to the city to get myself a Croatian Sim card. Since I’m a heavy internet user, also while travelling I took the best-unlimited service I could find at the time. For those interested in such things it is from the Croatian Telekom and basically, promises the best net and speed for 85Kn or 11 Euros per week. And yes, I am acutely aware that everyone makes this claims nowadays. I had neither the time nor the motivation to find something else suitable for me, so I took it without further hesitation.
Krka National Parks – The Westeros Riverlands
After our short visit, we headed to the Krka National parks. The parking space was absolutely stuffed with vehicles on the right side, on the left Restaurants and Hotels.
We figured that there was a bus-transfer down to the Park which was, of course, a paid service. But, and here’s a big but – absolutely worth it.
Just saying.
There are multiple tours, even a boat tour in the Krka National Park. We had not planned a whole day for it but trust me when I say “I wish we did.” But a little bit more on this topic later on.
We started off on a wooden path, about two kilometers long, around a small part of the park I have to add. Almost entirely speechless I wandered around taking pictures everywhere. The path was almost entirely overshadowed by the trees, leaving spots of sun on the ground, a light breeze going through the air and a constant sound of running water.

What a place.
And there is food everywhere…

… ducks …

… figs …

… and tons of fish, almost close enough to catch them with bare hands. I’m getting off-topic here.
Back to the park, focus, Christoph, FOCUS!!
Now one of the reasons I’d wish I had prepared better for the place. Not only can you walk through the park and take boat tours (they cost extra), but you can take a swim beneath the waterfalls, not directly but in close proximity. There are small shops along the path where food and drinks are sold and an area covered with grass to rest.
So a personal tip from me: Take a day to check the park, bring your beach-pack with you. The swim is free, and the scenery will hardly get better anywhere in the world. Well, you can look at the pretty pictures and be like: Oh yeah, it’s pretty pretty, isn’t it? But believe me you will have to pick up your jaw more than once since the real deal, the atmosphere, the air, the sheer noise of the water which makes it hard to speak from time to time will blow your f****g mind.
Enough words for now. We shall now proceed to the eyegasm part.

If you are a smoker, now would be the time to light a cigarette.
We made our way back to the bus since it was already getting late. The short period was due to no planning at all, so the decision was made to get a meal at the local restaurants up at the bus station.
I am not sure how to tell if the restaurant was just not good or the staff was just annoyed of the few people arriving so late. Half of the meals were unfortunately run out. Coincidental that all the dishes which required proper cooking did run out that day. What was left was basically salad, burgers, wraps, french fries and chicken nuggets. After our meal where we already received the bill before finishing we also got noticed that there wasn’t any more Ice cream or other desserts left since that too had run out. To be completely honest with you after the burger I had I wasn’t particularly eager to get a dessert. Don’t get me wrong, I ate the burger and my fries, but well, I also ate the food back in the days I was in the army. Same passion for cooking I guess.
Back on the road, we headed to the place we stayed once before. I think there’s nothing more to say about this day since the only really interesting thing along the road was our conversation, which is meant to be private.
So we made our stop to get to the city of Dubrovnik aka Kings Landing the next day.
